This past weekend we attended a breathtaking rustic wedding in Toana, VA. At the end of any event Devail and I always discuss our takeaways. What did we do well? What can we do better next time? We also share our favorite moments. Without hesitation we both agreed that Molly’s dance with her father gave us “all the feels.” It was so beautiful and heartfelt. There is something about a father “giving his daughter away.” The father/daughter dance is symbolic of the father and daughter relationship. In life, just as during the dance, fathers hold their little girl’s hand protecting her from harm, he leads her in the right direction, constantly tells her he loves her and how beautiful she is and when the time comes, the father steps back and allows his new son-in-law to take over where he left off. Her husband will now provide for her, nurture her and protect her as her father once did. That exact narrative played out in our minds as Molly and her father shared this amazing moment. Having 2 daughters of our own it touched Devail & I in such a special way.
What’s not to love about an outdoor, rustic, vintage chic wedding? In addition to the moving father/daughter dance, I also fell in love with the decor. I’m pretty sure they used every Pin in my “Perfect Rustic Wedding” Pinterest board. Matthew and Molly’s sweetheart table was absolutely stunning. They were seated on a wooden love seat with heart shaped cushions. Situated on either side of their seats were two wood stained ladders decorated with photos, flowers and tea light candles. Their seating chart was creatively written on the glass of a large vintage window next to a hollowed out tree trunk. The lush floral arrangements and bouquets were filled with elegant white and wine colored blooms. There were so many other unique details that came together seamlessly for this beautiful wedding.
So I have told you all the things we loved about the wedding but I can’t leave out the bride and groom. They were perfect. Gorgeous couple, easy to work with & so loving. During the toasts Matthew was described as a generous person with a huge heart for people. We also found out that Molly has a big & beautiful singing voice to match her big heart. Her maid of honor recounted the moment she discovered her small framed friend’s huge voice for the first time.
To Matthew and Molly: You are both amazing individually, but you are so much more together. We absolutely loved celebrating with you and your family (especially the dance crew! ????) Thank you for inviting us to take part in all the special moments as you began your lifelong journey together.
Blessings,
Devail & Nikki
