Amber and Cole’s Oceanfront wedding was so much fun and full of love. They had family all the way from Cali to New Orleans. You’d never know from seeing them together that Amber and some of her siblings live on separate coasts. Amber assured us that her family would be ready to party and she was right! They sweat it out on the dance floor the entire night.
We started planning for Amber & Cole’s big day a full year in advance so by the time their wedding day arrived they truly felt like family. It was May 2017 when Amber’s referral came through on wedding wire just like so many others. I did my usual follow up and she immediately replied to let us know she wanted to meet. Our “meet & greets” generally last about 30 minutes tops. We spent over an hour together! Amber & I chatted about hair, family, life and her wedding, of course. Devail & Cole, who are usually the quiet ones, went on and on about their jobs. It was like they were speaking in some foreign Systems Analyst language full of 3 letter acronyms that no one understands.
Overall, I thought the meeting went extremely well, but I knew they met with another DJ before us and needed to take some time to make a decision. At the risk of sounding arrogant, I just knew they were “our couple.” Devail & I both felt a genuine connection. Amber & I hit it off from the jump, Devail & Cole were BSA BFF’s 🙂 , AND we discovered that Amber’s parents live in my small hometown of Covington, GA! What were the odds of that?! It was just meant to be…RIGHT? At this point I was going to their wedding whether they hired us or not…lol!
I guess it’s no surprise that they chose us but the surprise was that they did so before even leaving the Landstown Commons Starbucks parking lot! We were absolutely thrilled. Here is what Amber had to say about their decision to work with us in her Knot review:

Where do I start?! 196 is absolutely amazing!! Devail and Nikki are the most down to earth people we have ever met!! We hit it off on our first meeting and we texted them before we left the parking lot to let them know that we wanted to work with them. They were very responsive to my emails and text messages and only wanted what was in our best interests! On our wedding day, they surpassed our expectations!!
How about a let you in on a little secret. Most professional DJ’s possess similar qualities and make the same promises about their services.
If you have ever searched for a professional DJ, all or most of that should sound familiar. So how do you choose? What sets a DJ company apart? Our brides all agree that in comes down to trust, communication and experience.
In addition to the basic requirements, the right DJ will put your mind at ease, give you the warm & fuzzies, that Allstate “you’re in good hands” kind of feeling. They will have a true interest in you and your fiancé. The right DJ will ask questions about your wedding to see how they can best serve you, not get the most money. They will be upfront about their fees and use their wedding expertise to walk you through this awesome journey.
When choosing your DJ, ask questions, do your research but trust your gut. We fully recognize that we are not the best choice for every couple. While we may provide the same great services as many other professional wedding DJ’s there has to be a connection. Just like in relationships there is somebody for everybody. Search until you find the right match for you.
Amber & Cole, we are so glad God led you to us and absolutely honored to be part of your love story. The best is yet to come for the two of you!
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Smith
