Before we say goodbye to 2018, we wanted to share the top wedding trends from our 2018 wedding season and a few fun facts from the year.

Top Wedding Trends

The Rustic Revolution

The rustic wedding theme has been growing in popularity for a few years and this year was no different. The term “rustic” can be pretty broad so what does a rustic wedding even look like?

• A rustic wedding incorporates nature. Outdoor venues or renovated barns are commonly used for rustic weddings, as well as wooden details and greenery.
• It will have a “casual feel”. A rustic wedding can still be elegant or classy, it will just be a bit more laid back, not black tie affair.
• The decor will be simple. Again, this doesn’t mean basic or cheap, it’s more to say nothing extravagant. It will include natural textures like wood and stone and have a “down-to-earth” feel.

Sweets & Treats 

To Devail’s delight, couples have stepped up their pastry game! The big traditional wedding cake is now being accompanied by and array of smaller sweets and treats.  It’s the perfect opportunity for newlyweds to add their own personality to the wedding. You can include traditional cultural desserts or something nostalgic like a dessert you had on your first date. If you are looking to save a little cash, forego the big cake entirely.  A full display of mini desserts is much more budget friendly. Guests can quickly grab a bite and head right back to the dance floor. 

 

The Late Night Snack

As more couples opt for casual venues without tight time restraints, receptions are now extending late into the night. Welcome the late-night snack. Typically these are appetizer size snacks passed around a few hours after dinner. The growing trend of the infamous “after party” has also made this a popular idea for couples. It creates a celebratory atmosphere and adds another level of enjoyment for wedding guests.

 

Bring on the BBQ

BBQ is the perfect addition to any event, especially weddings. Weddings are a time of celebration, a time of eating good food and reminiscing with loved ones and lifelong friends.  It’s is a fun exciting food option that your guests can dress up or down with different side items and sauces. The BBQ movement is by far one of our favorite wedding trends. 😉
